Abstract:This paper presents a 5G millimeter-wave active array antenna-in-package. The active array consists of 8×16 microstrip antenna elements. By designing a coupled differential feed structure, the antenna subarray achieves broadband matching and highly symmetrical pattern. By rationally arranging the antenna and the chip as a whole, the feeder loss from the RF port of the chip to the antenna sub-array is reduced, and the overall efficiency of the active array antenna is improved. The test results show that the equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) of the array antenna is greater than 60 dBm in the operating frequency range of 24.25-27.5 GHz, and the gain decrease of the array antenna when the beam scanning to ±30°and ±60°is less than 0.6 dB and 4.1 dB respectively, which has good wide angle scanning characteristics.
