我对大学通识教育的几点认识

国内目前开展的通识教育,并不完全来自西方,而有我国传统教育的渊源。通识教育的基本含义和要求是:拓宽基础,沟通文理;融合科学精神与人文精神的陶冶。通识教育拓宽创新人才的专业基础,矫治教育中的实用主义倾向,促进高中毕业生个人志愿的认真选择,并拓宽多方适应的就业机会。通识教育与专业教育不是互相对立的,而是现代大学教育体系中不可分割的两方面,当前大学教育中的突出问题是如何正确处理两者关系。

My Thoughts on University General Education

General education,which is widely implemented across China today,does not solely come from the Western culture,but also has its origin in traditional Chinese educational ideology.The essential meanings or basic requirements of general education includes broadening students’knowledge base,bridging the gap between art and science education,as well as cultivating both humanistic qualities and scientific spirit of students.Counterbalancing the influence of utilitarianism at school,general education helps students make the right choice of college major,lay down a solid foundation for professional learning,and even get better jobs upon graduation.General education and professional education are not incompatible with each other.As a matter of fact,both of them are indispensable components of the modern higher education system.At present the problem that needs to be tackled in earnest is how to properly handle the relationship between the two in higher education.
