Abstract:The superabsorbent polymer was synthesized by reaction of acrylamide with humic acid through inverse suspension polymerization. The effects of factors such as amount of cross-linking agent, initiator and temperature on the swelling ratio of the superabsorbent polymer were discussed. Promotion of the resin to water absorption and retention capacity of the sand were also studied. The results showed that the absorbent ability of the resin was 887g. g-i for pure water, 357 g· g-1 for tap water and 128g· g-1 for 0.9%NaC1 solution under the condition that molar ratio of MBAA and AM was 0.0005, molar ratio of APS and AM was 0.008 and temperature was 65°C. The water absorption and retention capacity of the sand can be significantly improved when proper PAM-NaHA was added into it.
