Practical Research of Cast Simulation in Large Complicated Iron Castings

Cast simulation by computer is useful to design casting technology of complicated iron castings. As an important reference, analyses of fluid and solidification were carried out in routine work. Based on the function of solidification analysis, a special method was determined to carry out the prediction and optimization of shake-out timing for large-sized iron castings, the prediction of temperature distribution in casting during heat treatment process and the prediction of residual stress in casting with using simple model. It was proved that these analyses are useful to iron casting production.
