从语篇语言学看句子作为主要功能翻译单位的可行性

翻译的一个重要问题就是确立翻译单位。本文试图借助语篇语言学探讨这个问题。本文从功能角度将翻译单位定义为语篇单位而非语言单位。这个语篇单位通过执行句法载体、信息载体和风格标记者这三个功能而保持其语篇完整性。这样语篇翻译归根结底就是：不是从句法形式而从功能保持每个翻译单位的语篇完整性，同时在这个过程中伴有必要的层级转换。为此本文认为，关键的功能翻译单位可以确定在句子层面。

Feasibility of the Sentence as the Key Functional Unit of Translation from the Perspective of Text Linguistics

One of the most important problems in translation is to establish unit of translation (UT). This paper attempts to look into this problem from the perspective of text linguistics. It defines the UT functionally as textual unit instead of language unit which maintains its textual integrity by performing three functions, viz., syntactic bearer, information carrier, and stylistic marker. Text translation thus boils down to the preservation of the textual integrity of each UT not in syntactic form but in function, given the necessary rank-shifts in the process. To that end, it argues, the key functional UT can be set at the level of sentence.
