Analysis on Application Effect of Wireline Formation Tester

Some primary functions of wireline formation tester(WFT) are introduced.Through cases of WFT working in Jungar and Tarim Basin,Xinjiang,described are applications of WFT in oil-gas field exploration,such as formation pressure acquirement and permeability estimation in exploration well,downhole sampling and on-site composition analysis.Compared are measurement results of WFT and drill stem testing(DST),analyzed are causes of their differences,summarized are their applicable conditions and then pointed out is that WFT and DST should be selected for using by practical geological conditions and testing objects.Attentions for using WFT are presented.It is considered that advantages of WFT have not been fully utilized nowadays in China.Some experiences on applying WFT are presented.
