| Abstract: | Reading comprehension is the key point to English teaching in higher education. While in reading comprehension teaching, reinforcing the content background knowledge becomes the most important of all. The essay gives a detailed analyses to the whole process of encoding and decoding in reading comprehension and inquires the necessity and measures on the role of the content background knowledge in English reading comprehension. |
