Restraint, Embodiment, and Identity: Three Key Words of "Trutg dil Flem"

An intensive reading of the design of "Trutg dil Flem" (Flem Hiking Trail) unfolds through literature review, phenomenological analysis, and direct inquiry to the designer. Although this is not the most representative work of the designer, it has a certain uniqueness as a walking system placed in natural mountains. It is argued that the "Trutg dil Flem" reflects 3 key words - restraint, embodiment, and identity. Through the specific analysis of the site situation and design details, this paper explains how these 3 key words respectively lead to the basic concepts of human forces intervening in the natural environment, people''s perceptual experience in the environment, and the cultural construction of self and group.
