Vocabulary knowledge is the basic me ans of language learning and also the precondition of lan-guage using.For many years,the role of vocabulary knowledge has been neglected because of some mis-understanding toward vocabulary le arning.Researchers,teachers and l earner have been paying much atten-tion to the vocabulary knowledge in C ollege English along with the further development of"Semantic Theo-ry"and other vocabulary learning and te aching theories.The purpose of this article is to discuss the ped-agogic implications of these theories for College English vocabulary in struction.
