Abstract: | Organic Protective Films by Air Galvano Process Active corrosion protection till now had a minor significance in powder coatings, since such coatings were applied mainly on surfaces that were not exposed to external weathering. Moreover, mostly those resins were used, which were neither stable against chalking nor against yellowing. Since powder resins for external application appeared in the market, the questions regarding active corrosion protection have been raised. Using powder coatings with a special structure it has become possible during processing to achieve a separation of phases by electrostatic means, which leaves a so called “Air Galvano Powder Film”. One phase contains a high percentage of an active corrosion protective pigment, while the other phase contains the colour. The coating is performed in a single layer which prevents separation of the position of film and eliminates additional intermediate work. Thus, it is a very economic process which is associated with improvement of quality. |
