Abstract:A method has been established for solving a full polarization electrochemical model for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) coupled with a potential equation and N-S one. A three-dimensional numerical simulation was conducted for the thermoelectric characteristics of the tubular SOFC. The calculated values of power generation characteristics of the cells obtained are in good agreement with the experimental ones. Meanwhile, the electric motive force distribution, electric current density and temperature distribution, electrochemical reaction-produced heat and Ohm heat distribution characteristics were also analyzed. The calculation results show that cathode Ohm polarization and activation polarization losses of the cells would account for 85% of the total losses,while chemical reaction-produced heat would account for about 92% and Ohm heat for 8% of the total heat generated.
