The principle of inoculation was described briefly, and the composition, specifications and usage method of the brick-shaped inoculants produced. Both the in-mould inoculation test and pouring basin inoculation test was conducted with this type of inoculant bricks by setting them at the bottom of the sprue or the pouring basin to cast heavy section nodular iron castings with weight of 6 t. As a result, the graphite count was increased, graphite dimension reduced, carbide was eliminated, and the elongation was increased.
