Abstract:Date transmitted in large scale wireless sensor networks is highly spatial correlated resulting in transmission of redundant data.It is an important topic to reduce transmission of redundant data for improving network performance.Based on circular spatial correlation model,we investigate the ways of selecting sensor nodes and develop an energy efficient MAC protocol,referred as SEMAC.SEMAC adopts priority node selection algorithm according to node’s signal strength and collision avoidance mechanism so that transmission of redundant data is prevented while prioritizes the transmission of route-thru packets.Simulation results show that our protocol achieves higher performance than CC-MAC protocol in terms of energy consumption,transmission delay,packet delivery rate and reconstruction distortion.
