Abstract:In recent years, the oil particle model has been widely used in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional numerical simulation of oil spill accidents in oceans,bays and other water bodies. However,the one-dimensional hydrodynamic model is usually used to simulate the flow movement of the river network. It is impossible to determine the flow directions of oil particles after they move to the nodes of the river network according to the model prediction results. As a result, the existing oil particle model cannot be applied to the simulation of oil spill pollution in river network. In this study, based on the characteristics of oil slick transport in the river network area, an oil particle model-based simulation method for river network area is proposed by defining the flow direction factors of outflow channels and determining the flow directions of oil particles. The modified oil particle model was applied to simulate the oil spill pollution of Taipu River, a main water transfer channel in Taihu Basin. The results show that the flow direction factor method can appropriately simulate the transport and distribution process of oil particles in the complex river network. The oil particle model based on the flow direction factor method is applicable for oil spill simulation in river network areas with complex river system structure and changeable flow conditions. The research results have great theoretical value and application prospect for improving the early warning and emergency response capacity of oil spill risk complex river network areas.
