Treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia with hyperbaric oxygen combined with nerve block

Objective：To observe the clinic effects of post-herpetic neuralgia（PHN） by hyperbaric oxygen combined with nerve block.Methods：100 cases of PHN were randomly divided into control group（nerve block ＋ drug treatment group,50 cases）and treatment group（hyperbaric oxygen ＋ nerve block ＋ drug treatment group,50 cases）.To observe the general state of patients and their general state integration,using visual analogue scales（VAS）,respectively,to analysis VAS score and to detect fasting blood glucose and immunocell before and after treatment.Results：General state of the two groups were significantly improved in the treatment group than the control group.VAS of both groups after treatment were lower than it before treatment（P0.05）.Comparison of VAS after treatment,treatment group was lower than control group（P0.05）.Two group clinical total effective rate was 90%,treatment group was higher than control group（P 0.05）.After treatment,the fasting blood glucose levels of patients increased,but it was no clinical significance.The average fasting plasma glucose of two groups showed no significant difference（P0.05）.After treatment,the immune parameters significantly improved compared with before treatment（P0.05）.Conclusion：Hyperbaric oxygen combined with nerve block effectively alleviated post-herpetic neuralgia（PHN）. It could be as a treatment for chronic intractable neuropathic pain.So it should be worthy of further promotion and application.
