非洲是岗瓦纳大陆的核心部分,其区域石油地质基本条件与岗瓦纳大陆显生宙以来的构造演化密切相关。早古生代撒哈拉地台及其以北的古特提斯被动陆缘发生、发展与沉积控制了北非油气的区域分布。中新生代岗瓦纳的肢解及大西洋、印度洋的形成与发展控制了东、西海岸内为诸盆的区域石油地质条件以及内陆裂谷系的油气前景。主要的含油气盆地类型为陆缘多旋回复合盆地、被动陆缘裂谷—拉分盆地及三角洲盆地和内陆裂谷盆地等。非洲的盆地按时代及类型可划分为5大区带：即北非（含阿特拉斯山）、西海岸、东海岸、内陆裂谷系、内陆坳陷群。其中北非是非洲勘探成熟区及油气的主要产区,西海岸是勘探热点及快速成长区,而内陆裂谷系正日益引起人们的关注。

REGIONAL PETROGEOLOGICAL FEATURES OF AFRICA AND ITS PROSPECTING POTENTIAL

Africa is located at the core of the Gondwana,therefore its basic regional petrogeological conditions are closely related to the tectonic evolution of the Gondwana Land since Phanerozoic. The regional distribution of the oil and gas in North Africa was controlled by the occurrence,development and sedimentation of the Sahara platform and its north palaeo Tythes passive continental margin during Early Palaeozoic The regional petrogeological conditions and prospects for oil and gas in the basins both along the east and west coasts and in the inland rift systems were controlled by the dismembermemt of the Gondwana and the formation and development of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans in Cenozoic and Mesozoic. The main oil and gas bearing basins in Africa include the multicyclic composite basins along the continental margins,the rift pull apart basins and delta basins along the passive continental margins and the inland rift basins These basins may be divided into five provinces or zones according to their ages and types,i e North Africa(including Atlas),west coast,east coast,inland rift systems and inland depressions,in which the North Africa is the mature exploration and main production province,the west coast is the exploration hot point and rapidly growing production province and the inland rift systems are being followed with interest day by day
