Abstract: | Jatropha (Jatropha curcas) and soapnut (Sapindus mukorossi) oils are considered potential non-edible oil feedstocks for biodiesel production and present complementary fuel properties. Apparently, the poor oxidation stability of jatropha oil biodiesel and the high cold filter plugging point of soapnut oil biodiesel can be successfully improved to satisfy all biodiesel specifications at an optimum blending ratio. The optimum biodiesel combination was further blended with diesel at various volumetric percentages to evaluate the variations of fuel properties. The biodiesel–diesel blends up to B40 would show the satisfactory fuel properties. |
