Abstract: | An experimental study on the design of a single-stage orifice pulse tube refrigerator (OPTR) was carried out. It was shown experimentally that there exists an optimum operating frequency which increases with decreasing pulse tube volume. For a fixed pulse tube volume, increasing the pulse tube diameter will improve the performance. The experimental results are used to derive a correlation for the performance of OPTR which correlates the net cooling capacity with the operating conditions and the dimensions of the OPTR. |
