| Abstract: | The performance of an exhaust muffler of internal combustion engine is related not only to the construction of itself, but also to the characters of the exhaust noise source. In this paper, a new formula for the insertion loss of muffie is derived for the exhaust system which consists of noise source, exhaust valve, joining pipe and muffler. In addition, the calculated results are compared with that suggested by others previously, and the factors having effect on insertion loss are disussed. |
