Application of complex demodulation techniques to surface analysis

Random process analysis is now widely used for analysing surface profiles. This technique has certain limitations which are brought about by the loss of phase information. This loss, under certain circumstances, can cause difficulties in the interpretation of surface structure. This paper deals with a different method of examining the structure, namely, complex demodulation which has the potential to clarify any ambiguity thereby complementing random process analysis
