Abstract: | 51 7th–8th graders were chosen for an intellectual development program on the basis of exceptional performance on the verbal portion of the Scholastic Aptitude Test. They participated in a productive-thinking program and a challenging course in either creative writing or the social sciences. Results indicate that the program produced significant gains in verbal intelligence scores. The productive-thinking program also significantly raised scores on measures of creativity.
