| Abstract: | Barrett's oesophagus is often considered an end stage of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. In its pathogenesis increased oesophageal acid exposure, disturbed oesophageal motility and decreased oesophageal mucosal sensitivity are thought to be of importance. In this review the role of each of these factors will be discussed and an update of the recent literature will be given. |
