Abstract: | The author responds to Stolorow's (2002) contention that the latter's emphasis on the patient's giving meaning to interpretations is "rather similar" to the author's views on therapeutic action set forth in a recent paper (Summers, 2001). The author finds a clear difference between the 2 positions given that the latter requires transitional space for the creation of new ways of being and relating.
