The Concealing Of Women In Residential Space

The discussion on gendered space can be traced back to nineteenth century when feminist movement rose in western countries. This movement aimed at helping women strive for the same social status as men. In fact, the impact of this appeal has spread to the field of architecture, which led to another interpretation of space feature. As a result, gendered space has officialy been one part of design context. Feminine space in traditional residence is reviewed and concealing state of women in modern residence is analyzed in detail. The design tendency and development orientation of residence in the future are also under discussion.
