Abstract:
Polyacetylene can be electrochemically oxidized in LiClFeCl3 nitromethane and LiClAlCl3 nitromethane solutions to give a highly conducting (500 ohm−1 cm−1) polymer exhibiting p-type conductivity. The limiting composition obtainable in the electrolysis can be expressed by the following formula: CH(MCl4)0.05]x where M = FeAl.
