《海》中的双我现象研究

爱尔兰当代著名小说家约翰·班维尔的代表作《海》自2005年问世以来好评如潮，广受评论界和读者的推崇。然而，绝大部分的评论（主要是书评）侧重于探讨他独特的写作风格，而对小说在自我再现中的突出特点“双我”很少涉及。小说主人公及叙述者在叙述过程中对于自我的表述经常出现一些相互矛盾或混淆现实与想象的地方，产生了大量的“双我”。现从心理分析的“双我”概念入手，通过分析小说主人公在自我再现过程中的双我表现及其成因来揭示班维尔小说的困惑主题。

The Double in John Banville＇s The Sea

The Sea, John Banville＇s acknowledged masterpiece, has won both critical and popular acclaim ever since its publication in 2005. Criticisms of the novel so far （mostly book reviews）, however, have been largely focused on his supreme prose style at the neglect of his prominent feature in self representation, namely the double. In the narrative, the protagonist/ narrator shows some contradictory images in his self representation and sometimes it seems that he is confused of whether that is reality or imagination and creates many double images. This paper attempts to analyze the phenomena of the double and causes of it by adopting the psychoanalysis concept of the double, thus, to reveal the fundamental artistic sensation of John Banville＇s novels--puzzlement.
