Exploring opportunities for collaboration in an era of managed care: A biofeedback-assisted treatment plan.

Managed care has drastically changed the landscape in which health care is delivered. Collaboration among specialties to speed patient recovery, reduce cost, and avoid duplication of services can be a benefit for all concerned. Areas for collaboration can be discovered; part of the challenge is modifying one's "mental set" to seize such opportunities. This article describes a treatment plan developed between the specialties of psychology and physical therapy to help an adolescent patient regain motor function after an episode of Guillain-Barré.
