Modeling and analysis of standby redundant computing systems

In this paper, we have developed performance models to represent the fault-tolerant characteristics of standby redundant computing systems. These models have the advantage of being quite general and are useful to study the performance characteristics under any arbitrary life time distribution for the components of the system. For the proposed models, we have derived expressions for three performance metrics for these systems.
