Unconditionally stable implicit-explicit algorithms for coupled thermal stress waves

A new family of unconditionally stable implicit-explicit algorithms for transient coupled thermal stress waves is introduced. Its computer implementation aspects are presented. The mechanical displacement and temperature are used as independent variables and the resulting matrix equations are shown to be symmetric.
