Anisotropic scattering of polarized light in a ferrofluid layer

Previously unknown effects wherein the scattering of plane-polarized light in a ferrofluid layer depends on the orientation of the electric field of the polarized radiation relative to the direction of the applied magnetic field are found experimentally, and their physical nature is explained.
