| Abstract: | Four mineral powders with widely different mechanical properties have been studied in cold compaction. The effect of final compacting pressure and particle size have been investigated. An analysis of the experimental data indicates that the same basic empirical compaction equation can be applied to the compaction of all four powders. A theoretical model for the compaction process is developed and the empirical parameters are correlated with the mechanical constants of the materials. |
