Abstract: | Emotional intelligence is considered to be important for project managers to affect project performance, but emotional intelligence does not always play an effective role. Based on conservation of resource theory, this article explores the impact of project managers’ emotional intelligence on project performance. The results show that the emotional intelligence of project managers affects project performance through the mediating effect of project commitment, and project complexity negatively moderates the impact of project managers’ emotional intelligence on project commitment. This article provides practical guidance on how project managers can handle emotional intelligence in different complex situations and serves as a reference for the selection and appointment of project managers in complex projects. |
