| Abstract: | From the perspectives of the Relevant Theory(RT), Experientialism and Conceptual Blending(CB), this paper aims to probe into the mental mechanisms involved in the process of reference interpretation. This paper holds that the successful reading of reference is decided not merely by RT, but also by CB and the emergent structure. It is also maintained that RT, Experientialism and CB supplement each other in relation to the successful understanding of the reference. They have more explanatory power when they are combined. The paper proposes a cognitive pragmatic working model. |
