Computer simulation of iceberg instability

The possibility of an iceberg rolling to an orientation of deeper draft and colliding with the sea-bed has important implications for the offshore oil and gas industry on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. In this paper that possibility is given substance. An interactive computer program was used to study a class of icebergs that increase their draft by as much as 50% on being perturbed from a position of near unstable equilibrium.
