Microprocessor-based toll registration system

Abstract:The toll registration system installed on the Humber Bridge uses a microprocessor in each of the 16 traffic lane booths, for the control of traffic, communication with the central processor and the computation of toll fees.

This article describes the system and operational procedures employed, with particular emphasis on the requirements and software development of the lane microprocessors.
