Abstract: | The performance of a spherical thrust gas bearing under slip flow conditions was investigated and it was shown that as the ratio of the mean free path to the minimum film thickness increased the bearing load-carrying capacity and the lubricant mass flow rate increased while the frictional torque decreased. The effect is more pronounced at lower values of inlet pressure and film thickness. |
