Construction of Spatial Databases of Regional Geological Maps in Hubei Province

In Hubei Province,the scales of the standard format regional geological maps include 1:50 000,1:200 000 and 1:500 000.According to foregoing scales,spatial database of regional geological maps is built,which comprised retrospective database and database from the digital geological mapping system.Based on MapGIS,the former is accomplished by scanning and editing geological maps which had been published and submitted.And the latter collects data from the geological mapping system(RGMAP) to be used for field work.In Hubei Province,the task of database of regional geological map began in 1997.Until 2010,spatial database of one hundred of 1:50 000 geological maps have been completed.For second round of the 1:200 000 spatial database of geological maps,the whole province has completed.The 1:250 000 spatial database of geological maps has been completed.Built regional geologic maps database can provide query and retrieval files,extracted files from different layered,splicing,clipping,magnifying and outputting of the projects.By conditions retrieval,database can rapidly offer fundamental data for compiled various kinds of thematic maps,which makes use of data conveniently and quickly.In work of regional geological mineral investigation,mineral resource evaluation,hydrological,engineering and environmental survey,planning of mineral resources,and geological hazard treatment,spatial database of regional geologic maps can be applied widely,which resulted in a good economic benefit and social benefit.
