Abstract:Wide use of wind energy brings significant impacts on the reliability of traditional power systems.The reliability benefits assessment is a key problem for the planning and operation of power systems containing wind farms.Based on the models of wind speed time series and its distribution,two multivariate models considering the correlation between multiple wind farms are proposed.They are used in the reliability evaluation of power systems containing wind energy based on the Monte Carlo simulation.The case studies of RBTS are used to illustrate the reliability effects and its variation at different correlation levels.The results show that there is strong reliability benefits associated with wind energy utilization,and the correlation between wind farms has a negative impact on the system reliability.
