| Abstract: | This paper reviews the development of drilling fluid technology in the late 90's, and mainly focuses on hole stabilization, formation protection, new types of drilling fluids, sloughing prevention and plugging technology, and the disposal of waste drilling fluid, etc. The developing trend in drilling fluid technology is further prospected in these aspects, as well as in pollution control, special drilling fluid for ultra - deep well drilling, and computer control, etc. |
