Studies of the Ramberg-Bäcklund Rearrangement. Part I. Rearrangement of α-Bromo-β-Keto- and α-Bromo-α-Carbethoxy-Sulphones

α-Bromosulphones, carrying negative substituents (keto or carbethoxy-groups) next to the bromine atom, undergo the Ramberg-Bäcklund rearrangement and give α,β-unsaturated ketones and esters. β-Disulphones are converted into α, β-unsaturated sulphones under these conditions.
