Abstract: | Effects of layered double hydroxides (LDHs), antioxidant (Irganox 1010) and their compounds on physical and rheological properties and chemical compositions of asphalt were investigated to evaluate the antiaging performance. Results indicate that Irganox 1010 modified asphalt shows good thermo-oxidative aging resistance, LDHs modified asphalt shows good ultraviolet (UV) aging resistance, while the compound consisting of LDHs and Irganox 1010 modified asphalt exhibits excellent resistance to both thermo-oxidative aging and UV aging. Furthermore, changes of chemical compositions of asphalt show that Irganox 1010 peptizes the asphaltenes, and the compound of LDHs and Irganox 1010 exhibits the most effective inhibition of gelatinization of asphalt binder during aging process. |
