The Quantity/Distance Category of Gun and Rocket Propellants

The quantity/distance categorisation of explosive materials is discussed. The procedure for the standard UK laboratory-type test (large sealed vessel test) is described. The borderline, in terms of the test, between fire and explosive risks has been established by testing materials for which the nature of the hazard is previously known. Trials have established that boxed UK plastic (composite) propellants are fire risks only.
