Abstract: | The method of finite elements is used for solving problems of orthotropic cylindrical shells made of composite materials with several unequal openings within the framework of a refined theory of the Timoshenko type. The initial region is subdivided into rectangular isoparametric elements. A numerical example of a cylindrical shell stressed by internal pressure is given. The effect of the shear stiffness and the radii of the openings on the stress concentration at the opening contours is investigated.Translated from Problemy Prochnosti, No. 9, pp. 34–38, September, 1992. |
