The reasons causing defects such as blowhole, sand inclusion, slag inclusion, run-our from parting, sand wash, cold shut,leakage, ere often occurring with gray iron engine cylinder blocks were analyzed and their relative prevention measures were proposed. It was pointed out that it＇s necessary to concretely analyze the reason causing every sorts of defects, and adopt proper countermeasures, design rational casting method and process, as well as it＇s also necessary to intensify the strict control of the production process.
