| Abstract: | A new formula for earth pressure applied to the monitor timely analysis on the site is proposed. The formula shows that the earth Pressure is varied with displacements of a retaining wall. Three Parameters in the formula is obtained by using the measured data of three points on the wall. When the displacement equals zero, the earth Pressure performs a static earth pres sure. If the displacement is large at the beginning then it decreases to zero. It is a passive earth pressure. Finally the formula is confirmed by the centrifugal model test' the results of confirmation show that the Proposed formual is applicable. The variance between the calculated earth pressure and the measured one is smaller than five percent, and the calculated earth presure is smaller than the measured one. |
