Abstract:It is demonstrated that more attention should be focused on problems of the in-stage cooling of the compressed gas, since intensification of this process will result in a lower total heat load on the cooling system, and reduced weight and clearance dimensions of the heat-exchange equipment. The cooling rate of the compressed gas is examined for variation in the relative total heat load, relative variation in the temperature at the start of heating, and variation in the relative amount of heat dissipated in the compression process. Relationships are presented for the influence exerted by the effective pressure and cooling rate of the compressed gas on the weight and size parameters of the heat-exchange vessels. __________ Translated from Khimicheskoe i Neftegazovoe Mashinostroenie, No. 4, pp. 24–26, April, 2006.
