| Abstract: | This paper presents the principle of using additional phase modulation to supress SBS in exter-nally modulated AM-CATV system and detailed analysis and calculation of nonlinear distortion and noise in fiberoptic AM-CATV when phase modulation is used to supress SBS. It is found that additional phase modulation su-presses multipath interference in the system to a certain extent. As long as the frequency of phase modulation sig-nal is greater than 2 times of the highest frequency of CATV frequency band, nonlinear distortion resulted fromdispersion is neglegible. |
