EXPLORATION ON MOLDING METHODS FOR URBAN IDENTITY

The paper illustrates the connotation, extension, and formation ways of urban identity, as well as the role of urban design in molding urban identity and that urban identity should follow up with the trend. Three typical molding methods of urban identity are explored, including the characteristics of public space, the characteristics of historical and cultural resources protection and demonstration, and the integration of city elements. In the end, the significance of the creativity of city design for the formation of urban identity is emphasized.
