Conclusions Dependences of birefringence of the radial coordinate have been obtained for old and relatively fresh UHM yarns using the polarizing interference microscope.Storage of UHM yarns in air leads to increased strength and elongation at break in microplastics and correspondingly to an increase in the birefringence close to the yarn surface and on it.Translated from Khimicheskie Volokna, No. 4, pp. 43–44, July–August, 1989.
