| Abstract: | Gut Yan - fang was a well - known Ningbonese entrepreneur, popular in the Shanghai industrial and commercial circle in the twenties and thirties. The present paper, with Gut Yan - fang as the case and through reviewing and summarizing his life - long industrial, commercial and social activities, analyzes the unique phenomenon of "To be learned, the new should be strived for and to be moral, the old be kept up ", rife among the overseas Ningbonese entrepreneurs as well as its revelation on the now entrepreneurs. |
